Abstract

1,258,638. Electrets. SONY CORP. 25 April, 1969 [27 April, 1968], No. 21304/69. Heading HIM. Electrets are made of polypropylene which, although non-polar, has a high volume resistivity and is non-hygroscopic. As shown, polypropylene film 2 has aluminium electrode 3 vapour deposited thereon, the coated film is sandwiched between electrodes 4a, 4b, and maintained at 65‹ to 120‹ C. while a voltage of 50 to 600 volts is applied across the electrodes. The voltage is maintained while the assembly is cooled to room temperature. The charge is apparently a homocharge. Electrode 3 may alternatively be palladium or silver or a silvergold alloy.
