Abstract

1,258,517. Swimming appliances. OMEGA LOUIS BRANDT & FRERE S.A. 28 Feb., 1969 [22 March, 1968], No. 10916/69. Heading A6D. [Also in Divisions A4 and H1] A finishing-contact system for swimming competitions comprises a perforated plate 1 suspended at the finishing face 2 of the track of a competitor, and a system of contact cables 5 located between plate 1 and face 2, cables 5 having each two flat conductors 8, 9 enclosed in a tightly sealed tube 11. Conductor 9 is cut in a meander pattern, Fig. 3 (not shown)' to increase its flexibility. Conductors 8 and 9 are separated by insulating strips 10. Cables 5 are removably secured to plate 1 by a slide fastener 6, 7. The ends of the cables 5 are sealed by tubes 13, 17, Fig. 4 (not shown) sealed by waterproof cement. The cables 5 are spaced closer together at the top of plate 1 than at the bottom, Fig. 1 (not shown) and one cable 5 lies along the top of plate 1. Plate 1 is secured to face 2 by screws 3, Fig. 1, passing through clearance holes in plate 1 to permit movement of the plate.
