Abstract
1,258,504. Spectrometers. SPECTRAMETRICS Inc. March 5, 1969 [March 6, 1968], No. 11827/69. Heading G2J. In a spectrometer comprising a prism 11, an echelle grating 12 and collimating mirrors 22, 23, energy incident on the entrance slit 21 is displayed at the exit focal plane as a two dimensional array. Light from a source 25 passes through an optical system 26, the slit 21 and via mirror 22 to prism 11 where it is dispersed in a plane parallel to slit 21 and strikes grating 12. Light reflected from the grating passes back through prism to mirror 23 where it is reflected to the exit focal plane. The prism and grating are mounted on parallel rotatable shafts 14 and (15), Fig. 1 (not shown), a further shaft 16 normal to shaft (15) and parallel to the grating ruling mounts the grating. The output may be dectected by image tubes, image intensifiers, image converters, spatial/temporal encoders, optical correlators or dectector arrays.
