Abstract

1,258,047. Boots &c. E. V. WAGNER. 24 April, 1969 [25 Jan., 1968; 22 Aug., 1968], Nos. 3984/68 and 40146/68. Heading A3B. A moulded shoe bottom unit 1 includes an extension 2 which extends up the rear of the shoe, the edges of the unit being formed with a rib or flange or groove for the attachment of the upper to the unit. In a first embodiment (Fig. 1) the extension 2 forms the heel end of the upper and the upper 6 is adhered and/or sewn to a flange 4, the edge of the upper being seated in a groove 5. In a modification the unit 1 is formed with an integral heel (not shown). In a second embodiment (not shown) the extension 2 is formed as a counter which may be positioned internally or externally of the upper. An upper 12 (Fig. 4) having an out-turned margin 14 may be secured to the unit 1 by stitching 15, the unit 1 being formed with a groove 16 for the stitching 15 and a flange 17 to cover the edge of the upper 12.
