Platen adjustment.-A platen 2 is mounted, for adjustment in the direction of impact of the type, in a carriage 1 mounted in guide rails 4 on a carriage bed 3 which is pivoted by swing arms 5a to a typewriter frame 7 and is adjustably fixed by a screw mechanism. The screw mechanism comprises a screw 11a threaded and locked by nut 10a into the frame and a further screw 9a which fixes the carriage bed 3 by threading into the head 11c of the screw 11a.
