Abstract
1,257,340. Latches. BRITISH ROPES Ltd. 2 June, 1970 [2 June, 1969], No. 27779/69. Heading E2A. An apparatus for anchoring and tensioning lashings comprises a rod 28 attachable to a rope or anchorage, the rod having pivoting projections 30, 31, a sleeve member 1 attachable to a rope or anchorage point and provided with spaced apertures 2, the rod being slidable within the member 1 when each projection is engageable in one of the apertures to limit sliding movement apart of the member and the rod and means for subsequently finely adjusting the relative positions of the rod and the sleeve member. The fine adjustment means comprises a tube 19 attachable to a rope and having an external thread onto which is screwed, a tube 8 having a flange 10 abutting an end of the sleeve member 1. A spring 36 abuts the flange 10 and a collar 34 on one end of the rod 28, which is secured to a boss on one end of the tube 19. After inserting the rod and tubes 8 and 19 in the sleeve member 1 and moving the sleeve member until the projections engage in apertures 2, a handwheel 16 on the tube 19 is rotated to take up slack and then to apply tension as the tube 19 is unscrewed from the tube 8.
