Abstract

125,665. Aldis, A. C. W. Oct. 18, 1916. Sights.-Relates to sights for guns mounted on aircraft, having means for compensating for speed of own aircraft, and consists in connecting the sight to the gun by two universal pivots, one of which is adapted to be displaced by a wind-vane in a direction parallel to the motion of the aircraft and by an amount proportional to the estimated speed. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the sighting-telescope f is mounted on the bracket a carrying the gun by a double swivel e and a front bearing k, j comprising a tubular sleeve k on the telescope and a ball controlled through parallel linkage i, h by a wind-vane m. The swivel c can be moved along bars b carried by the bracket a to adjust for different speeds.
