Abstract
1,255,896. Fluid regulation. HONEYWELL Inc. Feb. 18, 1970, No. 7777/70. Heading G3H. A fluidic oscillator 10 comprises two housing parts 11 and 12 each formed with a chamber 15 and a converging - diverging passage 18, and a plate 13 formed with a knife-edge 21 and two longitudinal extensions 20, the plate, when sandwiched between the two housing parts, defining with the parts an inlet orifice located oppositely to the knife edge 21. Accordingly, fluid entering the inlet orifice is caused by the knife edge to oscillate between the two chambers 15 so providing pulses alternately from the two passages 18. The configuration of passages 18 ensures chocked flow and hence insensitivity to pressure changes. When used in conjunction with other apparatus, (37), Fig.4 (not shown), for sensing the temperature of fluid flowing through the oscillator, such as fluid from the combustion chamber of a gas turbine engine, the oscillator is surrounded by an insulated jacket (30) having an inlet port from which part of the fluid passes to the oscillator inlet port and the remainder to the space between the oscillator and jacket. Furthermore, the connection between the apparatus and oscillator is effected by means of a resonator tube (35). In an alternative arrangement, channel 19 in housing part 12, is connected directly to a transducer, amplifier and electronic counter (38, 39, 40).
