Abstract

1,255,702. Screening apparatus. BUREAU DE RECHERCHES GEOLOGIQUES ET MINIERES. 10 Jan., 1969 [7 May, 1968], No. 1566/69. Heading B2H. An apparatus for the wet separation of crushed or naturally granular, pulverulent or clay-like products according to size comprises a screening cloth 1, Fig..1, mounted in an inclinable frame 2, a channel 3 for feeding a liquid suspension of the material to be separated onto. the upper surface of the cloth 1, a channel 4 below the frame 2 for recovering the liquid and the fine fraction screened through the cloth, a channel 5 downstream of the cloth for recovering the coarse fraction rejected by the cloth, and a resilient layer 8; Fig. 3, of porous cellular material on which the cloth rests. The resilient layer of porous material may be supported by a bar grid or wire gauze.'In the latter arrangement an extra layer of resilient, porous material may be added on the cloth in its upper region to avoid direct impact of the feed on to the cloth. A grid may be disposed directly on to the cloth alone. Or on both the cloth and the extra layer of porous material, so as to protect the cloth and facilitate spreading of the feed material. In addition, a mesh or bar grid may be provided above, and spaced from, the cloth for initial screening of large particles. In the arrangement shown in Fig 9 the cloth 1 is unwound from a roll 13 and wound on to a roll 12 when it is desired to renew the portion of cloth lying between the grid 10 and the resilient porous material 8. A number of spray nozzles may be arranged within the frame above the cloth and may be supplied with compressed air, water, a reactant or a processing solutiop. Feeding of the suspension of material to be screened may be effected through a container 14,Fig. 10, provided with baffles 15.
