Abstract

1,255,287. Headsets. AKG AKUSTISCHE U KINO-GERATE G.m.b.H. 5 Nov., 1970 [7 Nov., 1969], No. 52612/70. Heading H4J. A boom microphone is mounted on an earpiece of a headset so that it can be rotated, pivoted and slid longitudinally relative thereto. The earpiece 1 carries a disc like base-plate 2 against which a U-shaped boom support 4 is pressed via friction material 3 by a screw-controlled (6) spring washer 5. The support 4 is enclosed by a cover 9 such that rotation of the latter causes the support to rotate about the screw 6 as indicated at A. The support (Fig. 2) comprises a pair of bifurcated arms containing slots 4a, 4b in which a two-wire boom 7 can slide longitudinally (arrow B) against a frictional resistance provided by a block 8 (Fig. 1). One pair of slots 4a are provided with ratchet recesses 45 for locating the wire boom when it is pivoted towards and away from the users head (arrow C) the pivot points being provided by the walls of the other slots 4b since the width of these slots only just matches the diameter of the wires of the boom.
