Abstract

1,093,062. Supporting telephone handsets. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Feb. 4, 1966, No. 4968/66. Heading H4J. An adaptor for attaching a telephone handset to an operator's headband comprises a member (Fig. 1) of U-shaped cross - section made of resilient material and so dimensioned to grip the handle of the handset (see Fig. 3, not shown). An extension 4 to the base of the U has a recess for the wire of the headband. The recess comprises a hole in a thicknened portion (5), Fig. 2 (not shown) and an arcuate slot leading to the hole. The slot is at the rear of the adaptor. Preferably the thickened portion (5) is serrated or slotted internally or externally to give a positive or semi-positive hold, permitting angular adjustment of the handset relative to the headband. Alternatively a separate metal plate held within the recess is provided with serrations or slots. The springiness of the adaptor or a separate metal spring may press the headband into the slots or serrations. The headband may be a ball-ended single wire, double wire or strip.
