Abstract

1,254,690. Stabilized isocyanate compositions. TAKEDA YAKUHIN KOGYO K.K., [trading as TAKEDA CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd.]. 18 June, 1970 [20 June, 1969], No. 29743/70. Heading C2C. The invention comprises a stabilized organic isocyanate composition comprising an organic isocyanate intimately mixed with at least one stabilizer which is an acyl isocyanate of the formulµ wherein X and Y each represent O or S atoms, R<SP>1</SP> represents an alkyl, aralkyl or aryl radical, each of which may be substituted by one or more halogen atoms, NO 2 , CN, alkyl or alkoxy radicals; R<SP>2</SP> is a divalent hydrocarbon radical, the amount of the acyl isocyanate or acyl isocyanates being from 0.001 to 1À0% by wt. based on the weight of the organic isocyanate. The composition may be obtained by incorporating the required amount of the stabilizer into the organic isocyanate. The stabilizers may be used in conjunction with other stabilizers. Examples are given in which xylene- # #<SP>1</SP>-diisocyanate and 4,4<SP>1</SP>-diphenylmethane diisocyanate are stabilized.
