125,465. Beardmore & Co., W., and Bremberg, A. Aug. 16, 1916. Recoil apparatus.-Relates to hydraulic brakes of the kind comprising a cylinder A made with grooves D<1> at the front end, a piston A<1> with a hollow rod A<2>, a ram A<3> within the piston, a valve D for controlling the flow of liquid through the ram, and another valve to control the flow of fluid through the piston. According to the invention, this latter valve is in the form of a ring B<1> having a spherical outer surface., and a similarlv curved or a flat inner surface. It is arranged loosely without spring in a recess B<2> iii the piston to co-operate with a port B. The recess is longer than the ring; and the internal diameter of the ring is larger than the diameter of the ram A<3> where the ring surrounds it,
