Abstract

1,254,087. Cutting apparatus. HAENDLER & NATERMANN. 16 March, 1970 [20 March, 1969], No. 12473/70. Heading B4B. A cutting apparatus comprises means 7, 11 for withdrawing a web 3, e.g. of labels, from a supply roll 2 and a knife 24 reciprocable in a guideway 16 towards and away from the web to effect cutting, the guideway having controlled movement such that as the knife cuts the web the guideway moves in the same direction and speed as the web. The knife 24 is connected to a lever 25 which is actuated by means of cams 14, thereby reciprocating the knife relative to the guideway 16. The guideway is provided with a slot 18 through which the web 3 passes and is mounted on a pivotable shaft 17 which is rocked by means of cams 15 engaging a roller 21 mounted on the guideway. The web withdrawing means comprises discs 12 mounted on the same shaft as the cams and arranged to co-operate with a roller 7 mounted on a lever 6 which is pivoted on a pin 8; the roller 7 is loaded by an adjustable weight 10. In a modification, a belt may be arranged to travel over the roller 7.
