Abstract

1,253,937. Linkage for ground-ripping tool. AMERICAN TRACTOR EQUIPMENT CORP. 11 June, 1970, No. 28420/70. Headings A1B and A1P. A linkage for connecting, to a tractor, an array of similar ground ripping tools which are stationary on their supports while working comprises two sets of links 8, 17, 22, 61, 62, 36, 37 each set forming, essentially, a pivotally-jointed parallelogram. Between the rear ends of the horizontal links 17, 22 (Fig. 3) are connected vertical links 61, 62 and plates 36, 37. The plates 36, 37 carry the beam 41 which supports the ground ripping tools 42. A piston 71 operates between pivots 63 and 72 in order to rotate beam 41 about an axis parallel to the beam so that the angle of attack of ripping tooth 52 is altered to suit ground conditions. The beam may be raised and lowered by means of piston 27 which acts between a plate 26, to which links 17, 22 are joined, and plates 28, 29 which are attached to the towing tractor. The ripping tool can move from side to side during operation since they are mounted on U-shaped brackets 43 which pivot about pin 44 which passes through the beam 41. A resilient pad 56 allows the ripping tool to vibrate rapidly in the soil.
