Abstract
1,253,171. Delivering sheets. SOUTHERN MACHINERY CO. 23 Jan., 1970, No. 3455/70. Heading B8R. In a stacker for flexible sheets, e.g. cloth, a table 12 is provided over which the sheets 14 are fed, and a sensing device, e.g. a lever 30 in the path of the sheets and connected to a microswitch (29), Fig. 3 (not shown), detects the leading edge of each sheet and actuates power means, e.g. a fluid pressure motor (24), Fig. 2 (not shown) via solenoid valve 26, to shift a stacker member, e.g. a bar 15, towards and away from the table 12. A second sensor in the form of a flexible chain contact 34 may be provided so that when the leading edge of each sheet breaks the circuit between this and a metal table 12 and, whilst sliding down an inclined front wall 11, depresses lever 30, a control circuit, Fig. 4 (not shown), is " locked " into the on position opening solenoid valve 26 which admits pressurized air to motor (24) thereby causing the bar 15 to move the sheet against the front wall 11. A blower 35 is also activated to blow the rear portion of the sheet over the bar. Only when the trailing edge clears contact 34 does the circuit " unlock " to the off position, the bar returning to its original position. The sensor attachment including lever 30 and microswitch (29) may be held in position magnetically and thus is easily adjustable. The sensor may be photo-electric.
