Abstract
1,253,069. Rotary drum air filter. MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER A.G. 29 Nov., 1968 [13 Dec., 1967], No. 56666/68. Heading B1T. [Also in Division D1] A rotating screen drum 5 on which fibres are deposited from an air stream has its inside surface cleaned of fibres by at least one rotating cleaning member 10. The fibres removed by the rotating body 10 are carried away by the air stream flowing through the drum. As shown, the cleaning member is a finned rubber roller 10 which is rotated by friction on a rubber drive roll 11 which is itself rotated by friction on the inside surface of the drum. The fins on roller 10 may extend parallel to the roller axis or may be arranged helically around the surface of the roller. In alternative embodiments the roller 10 may have a fluted surface or the rollers 10 and 11 may be replaced by rubber balls rolling freely around inside the drum.
