Abstract

A pallet or like rack comprises spaced uprights 12 each formed with a single row of equally spaced holes or slots 14 and horizontal, support rails 11 provided at each end with an angle bracket 16 which engages two adjacent walls of an upright 12, one flange 17 of each bracket 16 having holes 18 spaced at the same or a multiple of the spacing of the holes 14 in the upright 12 and the brackets 16 and uprights 12 being secured together by fasteners passed through registering holes 18 and 14, the arrangement permitting the fastening of two horizontally aligned rails 11 using the single rows of holes 14 so that the rails 11 extend in opposite directions from the associated upright 12. The fasteners may comprise bolts or pegs. Alternatively, Fig.4, a fastener may comprise a bar 22 with cranked ends 23 each provided with a boss 24 carrying a respective elongated lug 25 or 26. The lugs 25, 26 have their directions of elongation mutually perpendicular. In use the lug 25 is first engaged in holes 14, 18 with the bar 22 horizontal and thereafter the bar so swung down to engage the other lug 26 in a further pair of holes 14, 18. The flange 17 is cutaway at 20 so that adjacent brackets 16 may interfit.
