Abstract

[Also in Division B1] A disposable reaction container has a lower section with two separate lower compartments and 26 and an upper storage section 14 having a plurality of reagent storage chambers, e.g. 18, 20 and 22. Each storage chamber is provided with a restraining layer 16 as with any of the means disclosed in Specifications 60369/68, 1,251,680 and 1,245,780 for supporting and securing a reagent, in tablet or powder form, therein, until on the application of force to the top of each chamber the inversion of the latter is caused and the reagent is deposited in a compartment 24 or 26 of the container. One of the compartments of the lower section must have at least one more storage chamber associated therewith than the other, this extra chamber being used to hold a reagent suitable for use in a "blank" analysis run. The upper and lower sections are preferably made from a plastics material and may thus be heat-sealed together via the two perimeter flanges 38 and 44. A code area 46 may be provided on an extended portion of the perimeter flange 45. The container may have rigid or flexible walls at least one pair of which are preferably transparent so as to enable optical analysis to be performed on a sample injected into the container.
