Abstract

1,245,780. Packages. XEROX CORP. 19 Dec., 1968 [26 Dec., 1967], No. 60372/68. Heading B8C. [Also in Division B1] A disposable reaction container has a lower section 12 with one or more separate lower compartments 24, 26 and an upper storage section 14 having a plurality of reagent storage chambers, e.g. 20, for each compartment. Each storage chamber has at least one deformable longitudinal rib R for holding one or more reagent tablets T in place, until the application of force to the top of a chamber causes inversion of the top-hat configuration of the latter and the deposition of the tablet in a lower compartment 24, 26. Flanges 38 and 44, encircling the perimeters of the lower and upper sections respectively, are of equal size enabling the two sections to be heat sealed together to provide a unitary disposable container when these members are formed from a plastic material. The flanges have an extended portion which may be used to carry a code area. The container may have rigid walls, or, to assist in the optical analysis of a sample injected therein, the walls may be flexible, with one pair at least being transparent. In a further embodiment, each storage chamber has a reversed taper (see Fig. 5) for more secure storage.
