Abstract

1,250,472. Core constructions. BROOK MOTORS Ltd. 13 Jan., 1969 [3 Jan., 1968], No. 415/68. Heading H2A. Slotted rotor segments 10, each consisting of a stack of laminations, are secured to a non- magnetic sleeve 12 or shaft by first engaging loosely interlocking dovetail projections and recesses 22, 24 and then casting in the space therebetween non-magnetic material, e.g. aluminium which may extend between the segments and into the slots to form a squirrel cage winding. Initially, the segments are connected by bridging-pieces which may be removed subsequently by machining. Fan blades are east integrally with the die cast material at opposite ends of the rotor and the looseness of the dovetail connections permits the laminations to be rotated relative to each other prior to the casting operation so as to form skewed segments. Fig. 4 shows as modification wherein semi-circular segments 38 are initially interlocked by non. magnetic ties 40 with dovetail connections which straddle shaft 42 or a sleeve.
