Abstract

1,250,094. Timing ignition. HONDA GIKEN KOGYO K.K. April 3, 1969 [April 3, 1968; April 6, 1968; May 10, 1968; May 14, 1968], No.17673/69. Heading F1B. An internal-combustion engine ignition timing mechanism includes a first ignition adjustment mechanism serving to vary ignition timing in dependance upon engine running speed and a second ignition adjustment mechanism serving to over-ride the first mechanism and to retard the ignition timing in engine braking operation of the engine, each of the two ignition adjustment mechanisms including its own breaker cam (not shown) and associated contacts 41, 43 and 50, 52 and the breaker cam (not shown) of the second mechanism being arranged to rotate in engine operation either without any speed dependent lead angle adjustment or having at least a speed dependent lead angle adjustment characteristic with reduced ignition advance relatively to that of the breaker cam of the first mechanism when the accelerater pedal is released to obtain a braking effect the vacuum at the front 12 is increased. This effects inter-connection of electrode strips 27, 29 of a vacuum operated switch 22 and the second breaker element 50 becomes effective for controlling ignition at the sparking plugs 54.
