1,250,046. Forming barrier walls in permeable strata. PRZEDSIEBIORTSTWO SPECJALISTYCZNE GORNICTWA SUROWCOW CHEMICZNYCH "HYDROKOP". 22 Jan., 1969 [22 Jan., 1968], No. 3505/69. Heading E1H. [Also in Division F2] In a device for making underground drains, or barrier walls in permeable strata, a chain cutter bar 1 of a cutting-milling device is mounted on a trolley, not shown, for evacuating a channel 20 in the ground and carries guide runners 2 for laying a perforated pipe 3, a chute 4 for laying a gravel sand bed 14, and a suction tube 7, the ground excavated by the cutter chain being pumped by the suction tube 7 to a trough 10 which delivers it, behind the cutter mixed with filling, or sealing materials, for re-introduction, by means of a chute 11 and dumping hopper 12, into the channel 20 on top of the gravel sand bed 14. The shaft of a lower sprocket 5 carries additional side milling wheels (6), Fig. 2 not shown, which enlarge the bottom of the channel and shear off clay from the channel walls. The suction tube 7 is operated by a pneumatic lifting jack 8, which with an aerating means 9, is mounted on the cutter bar. During the course of laying pure water is continuously passed into the pipe 3 to remove any remaining silt. A shallow preliminary channel 19 is cut, and filled, with water to provide a guide line for cutting the channel 20.
