Abstract

1,249,448. Organopolysiloxane polish. TH. GOLDSCHMIDT A.G. 9 June, 1970 [10 June, 1969], No. 27946/70. Heading C3T. [Also in Division C5] A polish comprises: (A) at least one natural and/or synthetic wax having an acid number 5-200, and (B) a mixture comprising 30-60% by weight of a methylsiloxanol (I) having a viscosity of 5-1000 cp., 10-30% of a methylsiloxane (II) containing SiOMNZ 2 groups, M is a divalent hydrocarbon radical linking O and N by at least two carbon atoms, Z is H or an alkyl or aryl radical or radicals or Y=H or Me, 5-15% by wt. of an organotin catalyst (III), and 15-40% by wt. of an ester (IV) of silicic, titanic or zirconic acid and/or a partial hydrolysate and/or condensation product thereof. The proportions of (A) : (B) range from 1:4 to 4:1. The composition is either dissolved in an organic solvent or emulsified in water. I my contain 0-15 mole per cent of CH 3 SiO 3/2 groups. II may contain 2-50 SiOMNZ 2 groups per molecule and the ratio of SiCH 3 groups to SiOMNZ 2 groups may range from 1 : 1 to 100 : 1. III may be dibutyltin dilaurate, dimethyltin dihexoate or tin octoate. IV may be an ester of mono-, di-, or tri-ethanolamine, mono-, di-, or tri-isopropylamine or of a polyethylene glycol monoether. The composition may also comprise a dimethylsiloxane oil having a viscosity 1000-10,000 cp. in an amount of 0À25-1À5 parts by wt. per 2 parts of wax. II may be present so as to provide not more than one SiOMNZ 2 group for each COOH group of the wax.
