A display package blank comprises two flat panels 10, 11, Fig. 1, of stiff paperboard or plastics, hinged about a score line 12, and one panel 10 whereof has a display aperture 13 over which extends a piece of flexible transparent window material 21, e.g. of polyethylene or polyvinylchloride, which is bonded along two opposing marginal portions, e.g. by adhesive 20, to one or both panels, but is not bonded to either panel over an area which extends from the aperture to at least one other marginal portion at which terminates one end of a deployable pleat 23 of the material 21 The package is erected by folding the Fig. 1 blank about the score line 12, with one or more articles on the window 21, and bonding the panels 10, 11 together, e.g. by adhesive 24, whereby the unbonded area of the window 21 is forced through the aperture 13 by the article or articles to form a pouch therefor, with the material provided by a pair of pleats 23, projecting from the panel 10 and which may then be heat shrunk. The panel 10 may include score lines 15 and cuts 14 whereby flaps 16 and 17 project from the panel 10 to provide support around the pouch edges. In the Figs. 3 and 4 embodiment (not shown), the rectangular transparent window material (38) extends across the fold line (32), is bonded along opposing marginal portions (40), which extend from the unbonded portions towards but terminate short of the fold line (32), and is provided with pleats (42), and extends over circular windows (33) provided in each panel whereby complementary display pouches (38) project from both panels (30 and 31), when these are folded about an article and bonded together with adhesive (43) around their peripheries. In the Fig. 5 embodiment (not shown), a rectangular window (48) is provided in one (45) of a pair of rectangular panels folded about a symmetrical score line. The window material (49) is formed with a single pleat 51 and extends across both panels and is bonded by adhesive to the window panel (45) only along opposing marginal portions (50) parallel to the fold, but is bonded to the other panel completely around the periphery thereof. The window material (49) is provided with a pair of tabs (53) which project from one side of the blank and align on folding thereof about the symmetrical score line (47) whereby on erecting the panel about foodstuff, e.g. sliced bacon, and bonding the panels by heat sealing the opposed layers of the material (49) around the periphery thereof, the tabs provide a visual indication of the location at which heat sealing is interrupted to enable vacuum or inert gas to be applied to the package by a probe inserted between the tabs (53), whereafter these are sealed together. In the Fig. 6 to Fig. 8 embodiment, the film 71, having a pleat 73, extends across both rectangular panels 61, 62, one whereof is provided with a window 64. The article is placed on a portion 68 of panel 62, defined between score lines 70 and 63, a portion 69 of panel 62 is folded at 90 degrees to portion 68, and the panel 61 is then folded about score line 63 to complete the enclosure of the article by folding a portion 66 of panel 61 to bring it parallel to panel 69, whereafter the adjacent opposing portions of the film 71 are heat sealed to form a display package having a projecting pouch 75 and triangular open ends defined by the panel portions 69, 68 and 65.
