Abstract

1,249,107. Polyurethane coating. L. G. WILKINSON Ltd. and K. J. WADDINGTON. 27 Sept., 1968 [27 Sept., 1967], No. 44040/67. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C3] Substrates are coated by first applying thereto a non-aqueous solution of a catalyst for the isocyanate polyaddition reaction and secondly applying a polyurethane lacquer containing an excess of free isocyanate groups. The lacquers are solutions in an organic solvent for either (a) a polyurethane prepolymer containing an excess of isocyanate groups or (ii) mixtures of an excess of polyisocyanates with compounds containing isocyanate reactive groupings. The catalyst solution and the polyurethane lacquer may be applied by conventional means such as spraying or roller coating.
