Abstract
1,249,095. Displacement transducers. INDUCTOSYN Ltd. March 10, 1970 [March 13, 1969], No.11325/70. Heading G1N. A printed circuit transformer 17, Fig. 2, for measuring displacement comprising a fixed scale member 19 attached to a machine tool 20 parallel to a movement axis and a slider member 18 attached to a movable part, has the scale member made of elastic material whereby it can be stretched in situ to adjust the scale accuracy. The fixed member 19 comprises a continuous zig-zag winding 21 printed on an elastic base, e.g. rubber or spring steel coated with an insulating film, rigidly secured to the machine 20 at one end 22 with the other end 25 attached to tensioning means 26. The slider members 18, which comprises two quadrature windings 58, 58<1> printed on a metal or glass base, is mounted on a carriage 50 for movement parallel to winding 19. After assembly the tension on member 19 is adjusted until the spacing of its conductors is correct, as compared with e.g. a gauge block indicator. In operation the quadrature windings 58, 58<1> are fed with sine and cosine voltages, and the induced voltage in winding 21 is indicative of the displacement of the slider member 18 within one pitch of the fixed member 19.
