Abstract

1,248,857. Volume compressors. AKUSTISCHE U. KINO GERATE G.m.b.H. 3 Nov., 1969 [4 Nov., 1968], No. 53894/69. Heading H4R. Volume compressor circuit includes a differential transformer U 2 with the signal voltage applied to one half of the primary 1 at a fixed level and to the other half of the primary 2 via an impedance element R s , whose value is controlled according to the signal level applied to the compressor. The impedance element may be a bridge network of diodes, as shown in Fig. 1, or of transistors, or may be a single diode or the emitter collector impedance of a transistor, Figs. 3a, 3b or 3c (not shown). The control voltage for the impedance element is derived from the input via an amplifier V and rectifier circuit G. The compressor may be built into the microphone housing.
