Abstract

1,248,531. Stabilizing P.V.C. UNILEVEREMERY N.V. 3 Jan., 1969 [4 Jan., 1968 (2)], No. 632/69. Heading C3P. Halogen-containing resins, e.g. P.V.C., are stabilized with a tetrahydropyranyl compound of the formula in which n is 1, 2 or 3, X is oxygen or sulphur, R is alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, alkylenediaryl, aralkyl, haloaryl, nitroaryl, alkoxyaryl, alkylcarbonyl, arylcarbonyl, alkarylcarbonyl, aralkylcarbonyl, di-(hydroxyaryl) alkylenecarbonyl, alkylenedicarbonyl or alkylenetricarbonyl and R<SP>1</SP> to R<SP>9</SP> are hydrogen or lower alkyl. In examples are used the reaction product of dihydropyran with hexadecyl alcohol, methylphenyl carbinol, stearic acid, dodecanethiol, bisphenol A, octylphenol, nonylphenol, neodecanoic acid, polyisobutylphenol, phenol, thiobenzoic acid, o-cresol, p-methoxyphenol, trichlorophenol, diphenolic acid, thiophenol and 2-cyclohexyl cyclohexanol. Epoxidized soybean oil and/or Ba/Cd coconoate and a plasticizer may also be added.
