Abstract

1,248,399. Toilet seat hinge. IDEAL-STANDARD Ltd. 14 May, 1969 [1 May, 1968], No. 20719/68. Heading E2F. A toilet seat hinge spindle is removable laterally. with respect to its longitudinal axis from a support recess when a support-mounted retainer is moved to remove its spindleretaining part from the recess. Spindle 17, Fig. 4, which projects through a slot in cap 21 into quadrant-shaped recess 7 in support 2; is removable from the recess when cap 21, captive on support 2, is raised above spindle 7. Alternatively the slotted cap may be received in a bore in the support. In a further embodiment. Fig. 9, the spindle is retained in a recess 30 by raisable cap 31 having slot 32 through which the spindle passes. In a further embodiment, Fig. 11, spindle 17 is supported in an upwardly opening recess in cylindrical projection 36 and retained therein by a ring 39 rotatably mounted on the projection and having slot 40 to permit spindle removal. A peg in. the ring engages projection groove 38, stop 42 limiting ring location.
