Abstract

1,248,241. Enamelling utensils. WELSH TINPLATE & METAL STAMPING CO. Ltd. 31 Dec., 1968 [19 Jan., 1968], No. 3114/68. Addition to 1,080,225. Heading C1M. [Also in Division A4] A utensil for cooking foodstuffs comprises a steel or cast iron substrate of any desired shape provided on the inside thereof with a coating of a first priming enamel having deposited thereon a coating of a first surface enamel resistant to temperature changes, and provided on the outside thereof with a coating of a second priming enamel, which may be the same as or different from the first priming enamel, having deposited on that part of the outside of the utensil which is not intended to be directly heated a second surface enamel and on that part of the outside which is to be directly heated a third surface enamel having incorporated therein Al and/or Cu powder, the first and second priming enamels both being free of metal powder. A gap, e.g. 2-3 mm., may be left between the second and third surface enamels. Preferably the second and/or third surface enamel are/is acid resistant. The third surface enamel preferably comprises up to 50 wt. per cent of Al and/or Cu powder. Examples of enamels are given.
