Abstract

1,248,111. Packages. J. MACMANUS. 18 Feb., 1970 [7 March, 1969], No.12265/69. Heading B8C. A flanged pie dish 8 is held against the bottom wall of a containing sleeve by tabs 14 to prevent the pie crust 10 contacting the top wall of the sleeve. The tabs 14 are pressed from the side walls of the sleeve and engage the top of the dish flange. Tabs 17 pressed from the top wall of the sleeve engage the edge of the flange to prevent the dish slipping from the sleeve. The action of the tabs 14 and 17 is reinforced by tabs 15 pressed from the side walls of the sleeve and havslots 16 which engage the dish flange. In a modification, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the dish is prevented from slipping by two elastic bands which engage diagonally opposite pairs of slots cut into the sleeve side walls and extending into the top and bottom walls. The crossed cords also serve as a handle for carrying the container. In another modification (not shown) the sleeve has end closure flaps to prevent slipping of the dish. Plastics posts may extend through the pie from the bottom crust of the pie to engage the top wall of the sleeve, Fig. 7 (not shown). The sleeve may be made of silicon coated cardboard or may be a plastics extrusion.
