Abstract

1,248,027. Aminoaryl ethers. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 4 June, 1970 [13 June, 1969], No. 27023/70. Heading C2C. The invention comprises compounds of the Formulµ I and II: in which Ar denotes an optionally substituted phenylene, diphenylene or naphthylene radical, R 1 and R 2 denote alkyl C 1-4 radicals, R 3 and R 4 denote hydrogen atoms or alkyl C 1-4 radicals, X 1 denotes a monovalent electron-attracting radical with a positive 8-value, according to the Hammett equation, greater than +0À7, such as nitro, cyano, alkyl- or aryl sulphone, and X 2 denotes a bivalent electron-attracting radical as defined above, such as sulphone, sulphoxide, carbonyl or azo. They are prepared by reacting a compound of Formula III: where M denotes an alkali metal atom, with (a) a compound of Formula IV: where Hal is a fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom, in equimolar proportions or with (b) a compound of Formula V: in molar proportions of 2: 1, in a strongly polar organic solvent at 30‹ to 160‹ C.
