Abstract

1,247,433. Detergents. MONSANTO CO. 4 March, 1969 [4 March, 1968], No. 11487/69. Addition to 1,232,890. Heading C5D. [Also in Division C2] A detergent composition comprises a surface active agent selected from an anionic, non- ionic, zwitterionic, amphoteric surface active agent or a mixture thereof and a detergent additive comprising a material containing dialkali metal nitrilotriacetate, alkali metal carbonate and containing at most 8% by weight of water, having a bulk density of 0À35-0À8 g./c.c. and having greater than 60% of its particles smaller than the openings of a U.S. Standard 10 mesh screen and larger than a 60 mesh screen, the detergent composition containing 2-55% of nitrilotriacetates calculated on the basis of nitrilotriacetic acid. In an example the detergent additive is prepared in the presence of the trisodium salt of 1-hydroxyl ethylidene diphosphonate, pentasodium tripolyphosphate, alkyl polyoxyethylene ether and sodium silicate, and after granulating potassium chlorine cyanurate is added in granular form.
