Abstract

1,247,359. Stearate coated clays. J. M. HUBER CORP. 6 Dec., 1968 [6 Dec., 1967], No. 58168/68. Heading C1A. Kaolin clay is modified by mixing a micronized aqueous dispersion of a water-insoluble metallic stearate with kaolin clay to yield a relatively uniform coating, drying and pulverizing and recovering as a hydrophobic coated clay. The dispersion may be sprayed on to dry clay or mixed with a clay slurry. Ca, Zn and Pb stearates are specified.
