Abstract

1,247,293. Electric selective signalling. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. 17 July, 1969, No. 35981/69. Heading G4H. In an engine life recorder in which an electrical signal dependent on an operating parameter of the engine is derived, time counters 15a, 15b, 15c, 15d, measure the lengths of time for which the electrical signal lies in predetermined ranges. As described, from an A.C. signal 10 from a tachogenerator driven by a shaft of the engine a D.C. signal is derived in rectifying circuit 14 and predetermined fractions of this signal, determined by potentiometers 20, are compared with a reference signal in detectors 24a, 24b, 24c, 24d, the outputs from detectors associated with higher level signals inhibiting gates 32 associated with lower level signals so that only one gate 32 is enabled to allow clock pulses from generator 40 to be counted in the associated counter 50. Each time the level of the D.C. signal increases to enable a higher level detector an events counter 54 associated with the enabled detector is incremented. The electrical signal may be derived from a different engine parameter, e.g. pressure or temperature.
