1,246,718. Making electrical connections. LITTON INDUSTRIES Inc. 20 Aug., 1969 [18 Sept., 1968], No. 41625/69. Heading B3A. An assembly jig for securing a plurality of units, which may be electrical connecting devices 12 having posts 16 for co-operation with a wirewrapping machine (not shown), to a frame 41 in positions in which each of the units assumes a precise, predetermined, spatial relationship with respect to the support comprises a flat plate 26 having a master reference pin 28 corresponding to an analogous pin located in the wire-wrapping machine. The pin 28 is used to accurately position a series of paired positioning pins 32 in which one of each pair has a circular cross-section while the other has a flattened circular cross-section. The pairs of pins 32 co-operate with openings 29 and 31 in the body 14 of the units 12 so as to accurately position any of the connecting devices relative to the master reference pin 28. The frame 41 has openings 48 and 50 which receive pins 28 and 30 so as to position precisely the frame with respect to the base 26. Machine screws 46 having smaller diameters than apertures 44 are screwed into holes 20 in ears 18 of the connectors 12. Thus the positions of the connecting devices in relation to the frame 41 is determined only by the alignment pin 32 on the base element 26 after which the frame with its connecting devices may be removed from the base 26 and transferred to the wire-wrapping machine.
