Abstract

1,246,461. Naphthalene dicarboxylic acid halides. SUN OIL CO. 25 Sept., 1968 [22 Dec., 1967], No. 45486/68. Heading C2C. 2,6-Naphthalene dicarboxylic acid halides are prepared by contacting a slurry of 2,6- naphthalene dicarboxylic acid in dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide or a mixture thereof with an inorganic acid halide and recovering the product. Suitable inorganic acid halides are thionyl chloride, chlorosulphonic acid, sulphuryl chloride, thionyl bromide, phosphorus trichloride, phosphorus pentachloride or phosphorus tribromide.
