Abstract

1,246,149. Headers. FOSTER WHEELER CORP. 11 Oct., 1968 [11 Oct., 1967], No. 48386/68. Heading F4A. An H-shaped fluid header 11 is supported by lugs 51, 53 on the upper and lower surfaces of the header extending into adjacent fixed slide channels 25, the longitudinal axes 27 of all the channels 25 passing through a common point 23 so that when the header 11 expands it retains its original H-shape without warping. The header 11 lies in a horizontal plane and its outer limbs 13, 15 are supplied with heated fluid from a fired heater (29), Fig. 4 (not shown), having vertically mounted tubes (37) connected to the limbs (13, 15) by pipes (40). The tubes (37) are connected together by pusher bars (41) and contain catalyst support cones (39). The heater (29) is heated by burners (35) and has a multi-layer insulated casing (31).
