Abstract

1, 245, 700. Reflectance colorimeter. W. HARRISON. March 23, 1970 [March 25, 1969], No.15435/69. Heading G1A. In a reflectance colorimeter for examining the colour of a length of material the material is illuminated by at least one fluorescent tube and the reflected light is monitored by a number of photo-cells each having a respective different filter, arranged in a line parallel to the tube and means are provided for derivingaratio of the current or voltage in two of the cells or of comparing the outputs of the respective cells with that of a reference cell exposed directly to the source. Filters suitable for indicating colour measurement in terms of the X, Y, Z tristimulus values of the CIE are exemplified, and potentiometer meter circuits are shown. A housing having an aperture S, Fig. 1, for monitoring the material includes two fluorescent tubes T1, T2, photo-cells P1-3, filters B, G, R, and reference cells P4-6 Potentiometer current and voltage balancing arrangements are described.
