Abstract
1,245,613. Hose couplings. I-T-E IMPERIAL CORP. 2 Oct., 1968 [4 Oct., 1967], No. 46797/68. Heading F2G. [Also in Division B3] A tube coupling member comprises a first tubular portion 13, a tubular element 24 surrounding the portion 13 and secured to an enlarged portion 21 thereof, and a second tubular portion 12 inertia friction welded at one end to the tubular portion 31 and inertia friction welded at the other end to a third tubular portion 11, the radial thickness of the weld joint between portions 12, 13 being at least equal to the radial thickness of the adjacent portion of the tubular portions. The opposite ends 15, 17 of the portions 12 and 13 are planar and the opposite ends 14, 16 of the other end of the portion 12 and of portion 11 are similarly planar. The portion 13 has a number of annular teeth 20 on which the element 24 is locked, before or after welding of the portion 13, to press a flexible hose 29 against the teeth 20 and the portion 11 may have a recess 18 for an O-ring. Portions 12 of different shapes may be employed.
