[Also in Division C6] Solid and liquid foodstuffs, such as meat, fish, fowl, game, soup, noodles, pastes, sausage, milk and milk products, vegetables, fruits, alcoholic beverages, carbonated drinks, vinegar, pickles, fruit juice and fermented foodstuffs, are deodourized, to remove objectionable odours produced during storage, by the addition thereto of at least one of the amino acids lysine, ornithine, hystidine, creatine and creatinine. 0.001-4.0% of the free amino acid by weight of the foodstuff, or 0.001-5.0% of a salt thereof, is added. 0.05-0.5% of sodium bicarbonate may also be added.
