Abstract
1,245,195. Electric motors. THOMSON-CSF. 17 Nov., 1969 [21 Nov., 1968], No. 56228/69. Heading H2A. A D.C. motor includes a first group 3<SP>1</SP> of 2n (where n > 1) soft magnetic rotor poles magnetized by substantially circumferentially magnetized permanent magnets 2 located in the interpolar spaces, and two stator windings energized in dependence on rotor position by two stationary, angularly displaced Hall plates influenced by a second group of 2n rotor poles 3 magnetized by the same magnets as the first group. In general the Hall plates are angularly 360 degrees displaced by and produce respective 4n outputs of cos n #and sin n #. The motor shown has six rotor poles (n = 3) and the Hall plates are angularly displaced by 30 degrees. The motor may have an internal rotor, as shown, or an external rotor, Figs. 4, 5, 6 (not shown). The poles 3 may be specially shaped to provide the above Hall plate outputs or may be of the same shape as the poles 3<SP>1</SP>.
