Abstract

124,510. Vickers, Ltd., and North, T. K. March 31, 1915. Mountings.-Relates to clamps for fixing guns in elevation, and consists in providing a multiple-plate friction clutch on the horizontal trunnion pin, one series of plates being carried by a part moving with the gun in elevation, and the other series by a fixed part, means being provided for varying the pressure between the plates. Fig. 1 shows the pedestal C to which the lugs a<1> depending from the gunclip A are pivotally attached by means of pin a fixed to the pedestal. A sleeve D<1> having projections d<1> engaging one of the lugs a<1>, encloses the plates of the clutch, one series of plates being keyed to the sleeve D<1> and the other set to the pin a. The pressure between the plates of the clutch is adjusted by means of a nut a<x>. The clutch is preferably composed of alternate plates of steel and bronze.
