Abstract

124,386. Sharp, R. F., and Gardiner, A. Oct. 9, 1918. Stationary batch-mixers with rotary stirrers.-Re lates to mixing or agitating appliances of the kind having arms or blades pivotally mounted on a rotatable spindle and adapted to fold alongside the spindle to permit of their introduction into a can &c. The arms e, Fig. 2, are so mounted on the spindle c that, when collapsed, they extend below it sufficiently for the lowermost arms to contact with the bottom of the vessel, so that on applying pressure, the arms are extended into their operative positions. The spindle is carried by a cover b adapted to close the mouth of the can, and the outer ends of the bars e are pivoted to bars f. A pinion g on the upper end of the spindle gears with a pinion h actuated by a handle i. The cover is provided with a lip having a hinged flap k, Fig. 3, and the spindle is held in position by a bush or nut l. The cover has a groove o for the washer and may be secured by a bayonet-joint. A bayonet-joint or other cap is provided for closing the cam when the beater is removed therefrom
