Abstract
1,243,062. Wells. ESSO PRODUCTION RESEARCH CO. 7 Oct., 1968 [21 Nov., 1967], No. 47423/68. Heading E1F. In a process of servicing an underwater well 14, fluid is directed down a flow line 34 to the well and down a pipe string 18 therein, then up a second string 19 therein, along a service line 31 to a second well 15 and up the flow line 35 of the well. A tubular extension pipe 53 having a piston 54 may thus be run into well 14. Reverse circulation of the fluid will run the pipe out of the well. Alternatively logging tools and sondes, pumps, or pressure measuring devices may be run into and out of the well. The fluid may be a cement slurry, drilling mud, an oil and water emulsion, a perforating fluid, a hydraulic fracturing liquid, an acid, a solution of a surfactant or a corrosion inhibitor, a resin to consolidate sand, or a clay or bentonite slurry. Well 15 may be serviced instead by appropriate change of valves 32, 33, and 36-39 which may be actuated electrically, hydraulically, pneumatically or acoustically. Flow lines 34, 35 are connected to an installation mounted on the shore, on the sea floor, on a floating vessel, or on submerged buoyancy means.
