Abstract

1,242,994. Multi-disc disc brakes. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. 6 April, 1970 [21 Jan., 1970], No. 2951/70. Heading F2E. In the disc brake of Specification 1,199,821, each guide surface is provided with means for reducing or absorbing the frictional forces caused by axial movement of the associated cam along the guide surface. As shown, a vibration damping connector 24 is secured, preferably by vulcanization, to the guide surface 14<SP>1</SP> of the housing projection 14. The connector 24 comprises an inner layer of rubber bonded to the surface 14<SP>1</SP>, and an outer metal strip bonded to the rubber. The connector converts the thrust forces generated by the thrust movements of the thrust plates 7, 8 into flexible, elastic movement so that the axial friction is reduced. Preferably a further vibration damper 25 is provided on the stop surface 1411 of the housing projection 14. Instead of vibration damping connectors, springs, thrust bearings or materials having very low friction properties may be used.
