Abstract

1,242,948. Shovelling machines. KARL SCHAEFF K.G. MASCHINENFABRIK. 6 May, 1969, No. 23172/69. Heading E1F. To facilitate digging of trenches laterally offset of the fore and aft axis of the self propelled chassis 10 of a shovel excavator the vertically swingable, dipper stick-carrying boom 15 of the excavator is pivotally mounted about an axis at right angles to the axis of the chassis-supported turret 12 of the excavator by a structure 19 that is swingable about an axis parallel to the axis of rotation of the turret. The axis of rotation of the structure is offset of the axis of rotation of the turret to an extent, that when the structure is pivoted to the maximum extent, e.g. up to 45‹, to one side or the other of the plane in which the axes lie, the outer side of the shovel 17 is tangentially disposed to envelope of rotation H of the turret about its axis. The location of the structure relative to the turret is determined by a link 27 extending between the structure and one of a series of securing points 29 on the turret.
