1,242,457. Automatic frequency control systems. SYNCHRON. 20 Aug., 1968 [21 Aug., 1967], No. 39864/68. Heading H3A. In an oscillator synchronizing system in which the output from a controlled oscillator is compared with that from a reference oscillator in a phase comparator to produce an error signal, the error signal is periodically sampled, each sample is compared with the preceding sample and a control signal is computed from the comparison which adjusts the oscillator frequency so as to reduce to zero to error at the succeeding sampling instant.
