Abstract

1,242,113. Amino-methylene compounds. MINNESOTA MINING & MFG. CO. 13 Aug., 1969 [30 Aug., 1968], No. 41639/68. Heading C2C. Unsaturated organic compounds of the general formula in which R and R<SP>1</SP> are each H, alkyl, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl or R and R<SP>1</SP> together complete with the N atom a heterocyclic ring which may contain one or more additional heteroatoms, and X is an electron withdrawing group are prepared by (a) reacting under alkaline conditions an amine of formula RR<SP>1</SP>NH, formaldehyde and a compound X-CH 2 -COOH or (b) reacting a compound of general formula RR<SP>1</SP>N-H 2 -NR<SP>1</SP>R with X-CH 2 COOH. Amongst numerous compounds prepared in the examples are 2-dimethylaminoacrylic acid, 2-piperidinomethylacrylonitrile and 1-morpholinomethyl acrylic acid ethyl ester.
